BAROQUE COURTSHIP 15–16 August 2026. Boutique Baroque Music Festival in the Historic Centre of Szentendre

This summer, we are delighted to present the fifth Baroque Courtship weekend in the historic centre of Szentendre. The town’s beautifully preserved Baroque architecture provides a magnificent backdrop for Renaissance and Baroque music performed on period instruments.

An outstanding artistic experience is guaranteed under the musical direction of Szabolcs Illés, together with the distinguished faculty of the 9th Summer Academy of Early Music and members of the Csodaforrás Alternative Early Music Association, who will perform together at the festival’s various venues.

Free afternoon programmes will be offered on both days, including flash-mob chamber performances in and around the Main Square, as well as chamber concerts in the cool atmosphere of the Cave Hall at the Danube Riverside Cultural Centre. Admission to the evening gala concerts in the courtyard of the Ferenczy Museum is by ticket.

Le Remede de Fortune – A Remedy Against Fortune
Guillaume de Machaut’s (c. 1300–1377) Le Remede de Fortune explores the fickle nature of Fortune and humanity’s search for consolation. The programme presents a selection from both his musical and literary works.

Purcell’s Baroque opera, based on Virgil’s epic, tells the tragic love story of Dido, Queen of Carthage, and the Trojan hero Aeneas.
